Cabinets Plus! Basic Quick Start

    1. VALIDATE CABINETS PLUS!: by following the Validation Information. If you are not certain that Cabinets Plus! is for you, hold off on the validation. When you initially download or install the software from a CD, you are given 4 days of complete unrestricted use. Once the program is validated, no refunds can be issued.
    2. SETUP YOUR INVENTORY: The inventory supplied with the program is just to get you started. You should create your own inventory from both materials in your shop, and materials you plan on using. Do not use the Materials Tab which is located on the far right of the main screen. To create a lasting database of materials you must use the drop down Settings menu, then click on Default Materials. Here you may add new, or delete, etc your inventory of materials.
    3. DESIGN A CABINET PROJECT: First click on the Project Design Tab, then click on the Generate button. A "Select Wizard" screen will appear. Click on the Plus sign in front of "Face Frame Cabinets with dado rabbet options", or "Face Frame Cabinets", which is the original face frame wizard, or "Frameless Cabinets". Then for your first project, select the "Default Wizard". The first time you run the design wizard it may seem awkward and time consuming; however once you get accustomed to it, and have saved specific default project styles for your wizards, you will see how quick and easy it has become. We now have a Wizard Navigation System which allows you to jump from one step to any other step in a single click. It's located in the upper left corner of each step in all the wizards.
    4. SAVE THE PROJECTS WIZARD: At the end of each wizard you are given an opportunity to save that particular wizard. We encourage you to do so since the next time you run the design wizard, most of your settings will already be set, and you can use the wizard navigator to speed to specific steps. This will save you hours of time designing your projects.
    5. MATERIAL ASSIGNMENT: When finished with the wizard, you must click on "Material Assignment". You will get nothing out of the optimizer without telling the program first, what materials in inventory, you wish to use. You will see several rows with headings on the first column to your left, and the materials thickness in the next column. To quickly fill in the remaining blank cells, right click somewhere in the top row. "Select Materials" will appear. Left click on it and select the plus sign in front of the proper material type. Next select one of the materials in that category. Sometimes there is only one. Now click OK, and the remainder of that row will be automatically filled in for you. Continue until all the rows have a material assigned to them. After assigning all materials click on the "Generate Parts" button. And then "OK" for optimizing. Now your cut list has been generated as well as the optimizer filled with your parts.
    6. SELECTING WOOD GRAINED TEXTURES OR SOLID COLORS: This operation may be accomplished at the same time as Material Assignment for a particular project.
    • SETUP FOR CNC OPERATIONS: CNC machines and CAM software can read Cabinets Plus! parts text file which it exports to the Cabinets Plus! folder by default. Once you have completed your design, and generated a cut list, click on the “Project Parts” tab. Next right click anywhere on the screen. A popup menu will appear, and at the bottom of the list of options will be: Export Text File. An export menu appears where you may drag and drop the sequence for the CNC router to cut the parts, and save the text file. If running multiple walls in Cabinets Plus! you may want to name each text file accordingly. IE: “Smith Kitchen Wall East.txt” This will identify which wall you are cutting.
