Why doesn't the optimizer show any parts?
After completing the Design Wizard the next step is Material Assignment. Click on the Material Assignment button next to the Design button. Right click anywhere in the top row of sub assemblies. Then left click on Select Inventory. Choose whether the part will come from one of the three main categories, and click on the "+" sign in front of that category. Click on the inventory material of choice and click OK. Do this to every line shown, and when finished click on the generate button. The cut list will be generated and also the optimizer will be full of parts.

What's next after designing the project?
Upon completing the design wizard, you may save that particular wizard for future projects with the same settings. Then click finish. The project will be displayed on the screen.
1) Next go to Material Assignment, and fill in all the rows before clicking on the generate button.
2) The next step is to check in the Part Totals tabs Skipped Parts section for any items displayed. You want this section to be void of parts. If there are any parts there, right click on the first part and then left click on Split Part to display the Split Part menu. After splitting all the parts click on the Optimize button which is the icon at the top of the screen, and in the center of the row. The one with the blue wand. For more information on this topic please check the manual.
3) After completing the two items above, you are free to observe both the cut list and the optimizer layouts.

How can I have the program calculate each module as if it were an individual cabinet? Each with its own back panel, base panel, etc?
By default Cabinets Plus! calc's your cabinets as one piece with several exceptions. One of which is when the modules are at different heights. In each of the design wizards there is a special wizard called Default Modular. These are set up with a zero width NONE module between each CABINET module. You may use these wizards as templates or make your own. See the manual for additional information on this topic.

How do I add more shelves to certain cabinets?
Close to the end of each wizard you are given a choice of how many shelves each particular cabinet module will contain. Simply select the correct quantity using the selector.

How do I adjust the height of certain cabinets?
Generally in the same step as the shelf selection is the cabinet height selection. Simply type in the height you prefer. This step is near the end of the design wizard.

How do I keep my opening dimension from changing when I change the opening width of the module beside it?
In the opening widths calculation steps, there is a check box beneath each opening width. Checking that box keeps the number you have selected and will not be changed by subsequent opening width changes, unless you uncheck the box.

In the Frame less Design Wizard's step 7 and 8, at the bottom of the list is an entry for "Module #? Corner Panel Overlay" What is this for, and why is it only visible if I have a corner cabinet situation?
It's there for the Corner Panel used only in Frame less/European Style Corner Cabinets. It is the amount you would like the corner panel to extend into the opening. This would be handy if you wished to hang the door from that side of the opening since it would give you room for the hinges. It will not appear unless there is a corner cabinet situation.

How do I assign different textures and colors to the various parts of my project?
There are several ways to do this. One way is to name the textures and colors through the Settings/Default Materials menu. Another method is to assign them while in Material Assignment. Doing it while in Material Assignment is a good way since you can see the results of the textures on the project immediately, but the Default Materials method is better for long lasting assignments. See the manual for more details. We now have a web page with instructions on this. Click on this link: http://www.cabinets-plus.net/Quickstart.php Actually it's a page showing how to Quick Start Cabinets Plus!. Go to line number six.

How do I set my Upper cabinets at one starting position, in relation to my Base cabinets? (Jog the Uppers or Base cabinets one way or another)
The easiest way to do this is to include an extra module at Step one of the wizards, then when you arrive at step 3 call that first module a NONE module. Then at the opening calculator Step 9 & 10, you can make that NONE module any width you wish, thus jogging either the uppers or the base cabinets in that direction.

How do I provide for an appliance in the design wizard?
The same method used in the question just above this one. Add a module where the appliance goes, then in step 3 name that module a NONE module. Then in steps 9 or 10 make that NONE module the desired with. IE: 24" Dishwasher you may wish to make 24 1/8" to accommodate for any contingency in the appliance.

Why are there two face frame design wizards, and only one Frame less design wizard.
The first face frame wizard is the original from version one, and we decided to keep it. It is better to use the Dado and Rabbet options wizard, since you may set the dado and rabbets to zero.
